Charlie’s Angels: And the New Angels Are…

Plans are certainly moving forward to shoot the pilot for the new Charlie’s Angels series. As reported earlier, Robert Wagner will be playing Charlie Townsend, the often-heard but never-seen boss of the lady detectives. And now, the three very attractive Angels have been cast; Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor, and Annie Ilonzeh.

Kelly is a familiar face to NBC viewers for her role as cheerleader Lyla on Friday Night Lights and as Gaby on Parenthood. She can also be seen in current thriller The Roommate. Taylor has done some television (most notably 2005’s Headland) but is better known for film work, like playing Maggie in the Transformers movie. Ilonzeh, among other things, was seen as Natasha on CW’s recent Melrose Place and has been playing Maya on General Hospital.

In addition, EW reports that Marcos Siega has been hired to direct the pilot. Siega helped set the tone of the very successful Vampire Diaries when he directed that show’s pilot. He’s also directed episodes of Dexter, Cold Case, and Veronica Mars.

In addition to being produced by Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen (producers of the Charlie’s Angels movies), and Leonard Goldberg (co-producer of the original series), the Angels pilot is being written/produced by Smallville’s Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

What do you think? Do you like the sounds of this new cast and creative team? Does it change your mind about the reboot?
