The Night Manager: EP Weighs In on Season Two Chances

Is a second season of The Night Manager now out of the question? Executive producer Stephen Garrett recently spoke to Deadline about the chances of another season of the AMC/BBC series.

Recently, director Susanne Bier revealed scripts are being developed for a second season of the UK drama. The first season is based on the novel by John le Carré, which centers on former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston), who is recruited as an intelligence operative to investigate arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie). The cast also includes Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, Elizabeth Debicki, Douglas Hodge, and Antonio de la Torre.

Now, the producers of The Night Manager (The Ink Factory, BBC, AMC) have released a joint statement clarifying that a second season is not a sure thing yet:

The Ink Factory, BBC and AMC are in the early stages of developing a potential second series of The Night Manager, but nothing is definite yet and we have nothing to announce.”

Additionally, Garrett told Deadline season two is only at the idea stage, not something definite:

There’s not even a script. There’s just conversations and thoughts… It’s not ruled out and it’s not ruled in. It’s entirely possible and we’d love to do it. … The official position, which is also the truth — I know that’s unusual but there you go — is that we’re thinking about it; we’re doing a kind of feasibility study.

In an ideal world we’d love there to be another one. But if we do it, we just have to make sure it’s at least as good as, if not better.”

What do you think? Are you a fan of The Night Manager? Do you want a second season?
