Nightflyers: Syfy Orders Sci-Fi Horror Pilot from George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones)

HBO isn’t the only network interested in adapting the works of George R.R. Martin. Variety reports Syfy has ordered a pilot based on the Game of Thrones author’s novella Nightflyers.

The sci-fi drama “follows eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system in the hopes of contacting alien life.” The story was previously adapted as a film in 1987.

Jeff Buhler is writing the Nightflyers pilot for Syfy. He will also executive produce alongside Gene Klein, David Bartis, Doug Liman, Alison Rosenzweig, Michael Gaeta, Lloyd Ivan Miller, and Alice P. Neuhauser.

From NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment executive Bill McGoldrick:

We are looking forward to diving deeper into George R.R. Martin’s chilling world of ‘Nightflyers.” The script that Jeff delivered encapsulates this classic sci-fi horror story and adapts it to a platform where we can truly explore the depths of madness.”

What do you think? Have you read Nightflyers? Would you watch the Syfy TV show?
