One Life to Live: Online Soap’s Production Suspended

One Life to LiveThe LA Times reports that Prospect Park has suspended production of One Life to Live indefinitely until a lawsuit with ABC is settled. The soap’s first online season wrapped last month.

Prospect Park believes that ABC has tried to sabotage their revival of the soap. After One Life to Live ended on ABC, several of the characters appeared on the network’s General Hospital soap. Before One Life could be revived online, Cole Thornhart (Van Hughes) and his daughter Hope (Caitlyn Buton) were killed when their car went off a cliff in February 2012.

In the lawsuit, Prospect Park says that the characters were just on loan to General Hospital and ABC tried to sabotage the One Life revival by killing them. ABC says that they “acted reasonably and in good faith at all times.”

There were hints that the Cole character might be revived on General Hospital. However One Life executive producer Jennifer Pepperman and Prospect Park feel strongly against bringing characters back from the dead so if he were revived they wouldn’t be coming back to Llanview.

Deadline reports that, if Prospect Park loses the lawsuit, that may be the end of the online version of One Life to Live.

The One Life lawsuit won’t likely affect All My Children which recently aired its own season finale. The writers are working on new scripts and the show is expected to go back into production sometime this month. It’s not known when the new episodes will start airing.

What do you think? Do you think ABC intentionally sabotaged One Life to Live? Do you think the soap will be back? Have you been watching?
