The numbers are in. This week, Nielsen revealed ratings for popular programs on streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Unlike network and cable channels, streaming services like Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon don’t normally release their viewership data to the public.
At a recent conference, Nielsen revealed streaming data for both Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and Seinfeld on Hulu. According to the ratings company, the fourth season premiere of Orange is the New Black “was watched by 6.7 million people in the U.S. … while the second episode was watched by 5.9 million people.”
For Hulu’s reruns of Seinfeld, numbers were lower but still significant for a series that ended in 1998. According to Nielsen, the reruns “reached 706,000 U.S. viewers in the first five days they were available.”
