The Originals has a new leader. According to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Michael Narducci is leaving the CW series after its fourth season.
The Vampire Diaries spin-off revolves around the world’s first vampires who’ve returned to reclaim New Orleans. The cast includes Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin, Charles Michael Davis, Leah Pipes, Danielle Campbell, Yusuf Gatewood, and Riley Voelkel.
Narducci is stepping down as showrunner of the The CW show in favor of a two-year deal at ABC. Series creator Julie Plec will replace him as showrunner if the show is renewed for a fifth season. As for season five, CW boss Mark Pedowitz said a renewal is dependent on how the show’s upcoming fourth season performs:
I am a big Julie Plec fan. I am hoping that The Originals can continue. A lot of will be dependent upon performance, but I’m counting on Julie to deliver for the season.”
Season four of The Originals debuts on March 17th.
