Why does Orphan Black have to end? At this year’s Comic-Con, the creators of the BBC America series explained why they’re finishing the show after five seasons, Variety reports.
Earlier, we posted a video of the cast guessing how the sci-fi drama would come to a close. The cast includes Tatiana Maslany, Jordan Gavaris, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Kristian Bruun, Kevin Hanchard, and Skyler Wexler.
During the show’s Comic-Con panel, co-creator Graeme Manson said it was better to end the show on their own terms:
We sort of had five seasons in mind, and the thing that we just didn’t want to do is get kind of soft around the middle. We think that it’s better to cancel yourself than to get canceled, than to peter out.”
As for the ending, while the creators have a plan, star Maslany has no idea what’s ahead:
I sat in the writers room for a day early on in the season to hear a little bit about how it’s starting, but I have no idea how it ends.”
The fifth and final season of Orphan Black is set to debut in 2017.
What do you think? Do you watch Orphan Black? Are you sad it’s coming to an end?
