Patrick Melrose has some new company. Deadline reports Blythe Danner has joined the upcoming Showtime TV show.
Based on the novels by Edward St. Aubyn, the limited drama “skewers the upper class as it tracks the protagonist’s harrowing odyssey from a deeply traumatic childhood through adult substance abuse and, ultimately, toward recovery.” The cast also includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hugo Weaving, Anna Madeley, and Allison Williams.
On Patrick Melrose, Danner will play “Nancy, the wealthy Park Avenue sister to Eleanor Melrose.” The series begins filming later this month. Showtime has not yet announced a premiere date.
