TV show description:
A political thriller, the Patriot TV show follows intelligence officer John Tavner (Michael Dorman). With only his unsafe “non-official cover” as a mid-level employee at an industrial piping firm, Tavner is on assignment to stop Iran from going nuclear.
Patriot explores the seldom-seen, gritty, and gruesome sides of an intelligence officer’s life. Although the stakes are high — i.e. the actual future of the world — it’s often the eccentricities of those around John Tavner, as well as unforeseen complications, which make him have to choose between bad and worse options.
John’s elder brother, Edward (Michael Chernus), is a young Texas congressman, who is also the father of a secret mixed-race son. Their dad, Tom Tavner (Terry O’Quinn), is the State Department Director of Intelligence. Rounding out the family is Alice (Kathleen Munroe), John’s understanding yet lonely wife.
Further complicating this assignment are Agathe (Aliette Opheim) a sharp homicide detective from Luxembourg, who is hot on John’s trail, and Mr. Claret (Kurtwood Smith), John’s stickler of a new “boss” at the piping firm.
Lingering PTSD, governmental ineptitude, and meeting the requirements of his cover, cause spiraling blunders which threaten Tanner’s mission. His penchant for smoking pot and writing all too confessional folks songs about his job don’t help matters. And then there’s the trail of dead and maimed bodies he leaves in his wake.
Series Finale:
Episode #18 — Escape from Paris
All hell breaks loose.
