The work of Charles Dickens are returning to the small screen. Deadline reports Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is adapting the novels of Dickens for the BBC.
For the new series, Knight is teaming up with his Taboo collaborators, Tom Hardy and Ridley Scott’s production company, Scott Free London.
According to Deadline, the BBC deal includes multiple Dickens adaptations, with the first being a three-part version of A Christmas Carol set for debut in 2019.
From Knight:
Any question about narrative storytelling is answered by Dickens. To have the chance to revisit the text and interpret in a new way is the greatest privilege. We need luck and wisdom to do this justice.”
