Person of Interest: Cancelled; No Season Six for CBS Series

person-of-interest-update

CBS is no longer interested in Person of Interest. Deadline reports the series has been cancelled after five seasons.

Person of Interest stars Jim Caviezel as a former CIA agent who teams up with a billionaire genius (Michael Emerson) to prevent crime.

The cancellation isn’t new news. Though the series was renewed for a 13-episode fifth season last year, Person of Interest has been rumored to be coming to an end for awhile.

Ratings have declined for the series in recent years, and last season, the show took a dip when it moved nights. This winter, series producer J.J. Abrams even said the fifth season would probably be the show’s last.

From series creator Jonah Nolan and executive producer Greg Plageman, in a press statement:

We’re extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans. We’re eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show’s fans — the best fans in the world. This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it’s been our great privilege to work on the show for the past five seasons. We can’t wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter.”

The fifth and final season of Person of Interest premieres on May 3rd on CBS.

What do you think? Are you a fan of Person of Interest? Do you think it should’ve been cancelled or renewed for a sixth season?
