Are you ready for Person of Interest to end? Executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman recently spoke with IGN about the CBS series’ upcoming fifth and final season.
The thriller was cancelled back in March, when it was also announced the final season would be shortened to 13 episodes.
In the interview, Plageman said fans can expect an “exciting and explosive” series finale:
Once we saw the reduced episode order, we took that as writing on the wall, really. And rather than write some ending where we tread water with some bizarre finale where you don’t know if the show will come back or if we’ll be back the next year with only a few episodes, we were like “Screw that. Let’s give it a satisfying ending.” Let’s make it as exciting and explosive as possible. And then we’ll drop the mic. And then walk away from it. And then some day, who knows?”
Later, he added that fans can also look forward to the return of some former characters:
We would have loved to have some more of our character actors back. In the world-building we’ve done over the years, it’s interesting to see just how many characters started out as villains and then became some of our most endearing characters. Elias. In some ways Dominic. And Collier too. We’d love to bring some of these characters back too, even though we killed them off. We’ve found ways to bring them back sometimes, given the nature of this show. But in the penultimate episode of this year, that I had the good fortune of directing, it was a really treat for me because characters we’ve known to be dead and gone we found a way to bring back. So we certainly get a rogue’s gallery of faces back in the mix.”
The final season of Person of Interest debuts tomorrow, May 3rd, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
What do you think? Do you watch Person of Interest? Are you sad to see it ending? How do you hope the series ends?
