TV show description:
Sheriff James Brock (Tom Skerrit) tries to maintain order in the small town of Rome, Wisconsin. That isn’t easy considering all of the town’s strange occurrences and equally eccentric residents.
Sheriff Brock is married to town doctor and second wife Jill (Kathy Baker). Together, they raise young sons Matthew (Justin Shenkarow) and Zachary (Adam Wylie) and the Sheriff’s teenage daughter from his first marriage, Kimberly (Holly Marie Combs).
At the station, Sheriff Brock works with immature deputies Maxine “Max” Stewart (Lauren Holly) and Kenny Lacos (Costas Mandylor), medical examiner Carter Pike (Kelly Connell), diminutive police dispatcher Ginny Weedon (Zelda Rubenstein), and prosecutor John Littleton (Don Cheadle). They are frequently at odds with bombastic lawyer Douglas Wambaugh (Fyvush Finkel), irritable Judge Henry Bone (Ray Walston), and the town’s revolving door of Mayors.
From a pre-Boston Legal David E. Kelley, this comedic drama tackles wild and difficult subjects like abortion, homosexual adoption, transsexuality, medical ethics, polygamy, shoe fetishism, spontaneous human combustion, and constitutional rights.
