Powerless: Cancelled? NBC Not Giving Up Yet

Powerless TV show on NBC: season 1 (canceled or renewed?)

Will there be a second season of Powerless? Recently, NBC boss Jennifer Salke discussed the future of the TV series, Deadline reports.

The comedy follows Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens), a spunky, young insurance adjuster who specializes in covering regular people against damage caused by crime-fighting superheroes and their villainous counterparts. The cast also includes Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, Danny Pudi, and Christina Kirk.

So far, the first season of Powerless has performed poorly in the ratings. The comedy debuted on February 2nd to a 1.08 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.098 million viewers. The numbers have only declined from there. Currently, the show is averaging a .84 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.596 million viewers.

During a recent conference, Salke said the numbers are disappointing but NBC is still behind the show:

[Powerless] did not open to the most exciting numbers which was OK because we thought it would be viewed by a digital audience really strongly. We’re still looking at it. I just wish it was performing better, but we haven’t made decisions. We’re going to continue to air it and we’re behind it.”

What do you think? Do you watch Powerless? Do you think it should be renewed?
