Deadline reports Will Kemp has been cast in the fourth season of the Reign TV show on The CW. Kemp will play a new suitor of Mary Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane). He will appear in at least three episodes and has a option to become a series regular. Kemp played Scott on the second season of Bravo‘s Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce TV series.
According to the report, Kemp will play Lord Darnley on Reign, season four. Darnley is said to be, “…confident, charming and warm, he was born with a blood claim of his own to the English throne and a wildly ambitious mother whose love hinges entirely on his ability to secure a crown.”
Here is more, from Deadline:
Mary fell in love with Lord Darnley, who was her first cousin, while mourning the death of her first husband Francis. The two got married, but the relationship quickly deteriorated as Darnley grew more and more arrogant. He subsequently was murdered, with suspicion lingering that Mary might have had a hand in that.
The addition of Kemp could help fill the void left by the departure of Reign co-star Torrance Coombs, who segued to the new ABC drama series Still Star-Crossed.
Kane confirmed Coombs’ (Bash aka Sebastian) departure, back on May. Kemp’s Darnley won’t be the only new kid in town. Per previous reports, bad boy Bothwell will be warm for Mary’s form, as well.
