What’s in store for the final season of Reign? Recently, star Adelaide Kane spoke with TVLine about the cancellation and end of the CW series.
The period drama chronicles the tumultuous life of Mary, Queen of Scots (Kane). The cast also includes Torrance Coombs, Megan Follows, Toby Regbo, Celina Sinden, Caitlin Stasey, and Anna Popplewell. In December, The The CW announced season four of the show would be its last.
In the interview, Kane teased Mary’s story in the final season:
She steps into this political landscape in which her own Scottish lords are desperate to get her married as soon as humanly possible, just so they can pawn off her authority onto her husband. And it’s all because they feel more comfortable being led by a man.”
Later, she revealed the cast and crew found out the show was cancelled only days before shooting finished on season four:
We only found about 10 days before we were due to wrap. It really came down to the wire, but … it still gave us an opportunity to properly say goodbye to the cast and crew, and to take a moment every day to appreciate everyone. And to have a wrap party! It was a big blow-out celebration of the past four years.”
The fourth and final season of Reign debuts tonight, February 10th, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
