Relationship Status: James Frey, Milo Ventimiglia to Launch Verizon Drama

Relationship Status TV show on Verizon Wireless go90: season one (canceled or renewed?)

James Frey and Milo Ventimiglia are bringing their scripted Relationship Status TV series, about friendship and love, to Verizon Wireless go90. The Relationship Status cast includes Ventimiglia and Shawn Ashmore. It will stream on Verizon’s new go90 app.

Written by Celine Ginger, Relationship Status will be directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum. Frey is producing for his Full Fathom Five production company with Todd Cohen. Russ Cundiff and Ventimiglia (with his DiVide Pictures) are also producing, with StyleHaul.

Other cast members attached to the dramedy include: Emma Bell, Molly Burnett, Patrick Carlyle, Emrhys Cooper, Brant Daugherty, Brett Davern, Willa Fitzgerald, McKinley Freeman, Andy Gala, Ray Wise, and more.

Excerpted from The Hollywood Reporter:

Relationship Status will premiere this spring exclusively on the streaming video app. The dramedy will use the lens of social media to follow the interweaving lives of 30 some young people living in New York and Los Angeles. […]

Ventimiglia explains that the series has a fluency in digital and delves into what it’s like to connect with people in the modern age of online dating, mobile phones and social networking. “There was a moment when I first read the script where I honestly felt like Celine had a window into my own life,” he says. “The stories she was telling and the interwoven moments were plucked out of my different relationships and my own digital life.”

Because of the nature of the stories that Relationship Status will tell, Ventimiglia adds that it was meant for a digital platform like go90. He says he hopes to release the entire series at once to allow people to watch it in one sitting or to view episodes multiple times to catch all the ways that the many characters are connected.

“It had to be on digital,” he says. “Ten or 15 years ago it would have been an independent film, but nowadays there is no shortage of places to show and tell your stories. That’s exciting.”

What do you think? Do you like the sound of the Relationship Status show? Are you interested in watching a series that is only available on a mobile app.?
