How will Riverdale differ from the original Archie Comics? New details about the upcoming CW series were revealed at this year’s Comic-Con, says The Hollywood Reporter.
From Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and executive producer Greg Berlanti, the teen drama will be a subversive and gritty take on the classic Archie Comics universe. The cast includes KJ Apa, Luke Perry, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, and Mädchen Amick.
During the show’s Comic-Con panel, Aguirre-Sacasa said the series will be like a “teenage Twin Peaks.” The executive producer also teased romance and murder in the first season. But don’t worry. Exec producer Sarah Schrecter promised the mystery will be solved in the first season:
And we will solve the mystery this season to make sure that loyal viewers get rewarded.”
Riverdale premieres in 2017.
