Greg Berlanti, executive producer for CW’s Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, is developing the project.
Speaking at the winter TCA press tour, CW president Mark Pedowitz said he trusts Berlanti’s vision of a darker Riverdale, saying that with someone as successful as Berlanti, “you give them that leeway.”
TVLine says the live-action series will feature “a buff, secret-harboring Archie” and “an Aderall-popping Betty.”
