Roadies: Cancelled or Season Two Still Possible?

Roadies TV show on Showtime: season 1 (canceled or renewed?).

Oh won’t you stay, just a little bit longer? The news coming out of the last day of the 2016 TCA summer press tour makes it sound likely that Cameron Crowe’s Roadies TV show may be cancelled after its first season on Showtime. The comedy series about a team of roadies stars Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Peter Cambor, Colson Baker, and Ron White.

When asked about the show’s performance, Deadline reports Showtime CEO David Nevins said, “It’s going according to vision. I like the show. It’s a very different tone for us and for pay cable in general. I think it gets better, but it hasn’t caught on big. We’re evaluating what its future is one way or the other.” Other reports took a more pessimistic tone.

The Deadline report said a cancellation or renewal decision was likely to be made when Roadies finishes its first season. Other reporters tweeted more fatalistic take-aways.

Gwen Reyes quotes Nevins as saying the he thinks the show is “…at the end of its run” and that it just didn’t “catch on.”

Likewise, Candace Havens tweeted: “So if you love #Roadies appreciate this one season. I don’t think it’s coming back. ‘Probably at the end of its run’. –Nevins #TCA16.”

What do you think? Have you been watching the first season of the Roadies TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season on Showtime?
