Burn Notice and Royal Pains: USA Shows Returning in June

USA Channel is set to return both Royal Pains and Burn Notice to the air early this summer with some great enhancements to the shows. Not that they needed to add anything, as these two shows are still hits, but the additions of stars Henry Winkler and Coby Bell will bring something new.

Burn Notice has been a staple on USA for the past three years, starring Jeffrey Donovan as a spy who gets blacklisted and continues to try and find out who burned him. He’s stuck in beautiful Miami with his ex-girlfriend, his chain-smoking mom, and a double agent for a best friend (Gabrielle Anwar, Sharon Gless, and Bruce Campbell).

Royal Pains bowed last summer, starring Mark Feuerstein as a doctor who’s banned from working as a doctor after choosing to save the life of a teenage thug instead of a wealthy hospital administrator. He lands a position as a concierge doctor in The Hamptons, making for a strange sort of purgatory considering the reason for his firing. Other characters include his brother who runs the business (Paulo Costanzo), a physician assistant (Reshma Shetty), and a hospital administrator who pulls strings when needed (Jill Flint).

Royal Pains is now set to gain Winkler as a costar. The first season of the show ended with Hank’s (Feuerstein) discovery that Evan (Costanzo) had put HankMed in a position of becoming bankrupt by investing in a medical company that was a farce. In the very last scene, Hank discovers that the person behind the medical company scam was none other than his and Evan’s estranged father — now played by Winkler, who created the iconic character of Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli on Happy Days.

On Burn Notice, Michael Westen’s (Donovan) life is going to get busier as the spy business gets a little more crowded. Bell will join the cast as Jesse Garcia, another counterintelligence expert. He takes to this job just the same as Michael does. Bell spent six seasons playing Officer Tyrone Davis on Third Watch, and appeared in almost all of the 130 episodes.

Both series will premiere on USA Channel on June 3 as they try to recreate their success of last summer. Royal Pains had done extremely well with Burn Notice as a lead-in.

Premieres of USA series Law & Order: Criminal Intent and In Plain Sight have already begun, and White Collar, Pysch, and new show Covert Affairs will begin in July.
