The Runner is hitting the streets this summer. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon first pitched this idea to the networks in 2000, and ABC was ready to run with it at that time. However, the series was shelved after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
Verizon is planning to air this reality series on its go90 platform. The concept of the reality series has one person on the run and trying to make it across the country in 30 days. That person will be chased by teams of two, and the viewing public can help the chasers located the runner.
This mobile series will use today’s technology to make this ambitious series work. Marc Joubert from Adaptive Studios said the following about the series, according to The Wrap:
“This is an excellent format for a brand new platform. The Runner is our way of meeting a millennial audience where they live — on their smartphones and on social media.”
Casting for this reality series is happening now. Will you check out The Runner? Tell us what you think.
