Running Wild with Bear Grylls: Cancel or Keep the New NBC Series?

Running Wild with Bear Grylls TV show on NBC: cancel or renew for season 2NBC didn’t find much ratings success with Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls so the show was cancelled. Now, they’re trying a celebrity twist with Running Wild with Bear Grylls. Will it be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for season two?

On Running Wild with Bear Grylls, adventurer Bear Grylls takes celebrities to remote locations across the world, on journeys that push the physical and mental stamina. The first celebrities are actor Zac Efron, actor-director Ben Stiller, actor Channing Tatum, NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, actor Tom Arnold, and Today anchor Tamron Hall.

The series debuted at the end of July to a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.43 million viewers. That was a decent start for a summer reality show. The second episode dipped a bit in the ratings but last week’s Channing Tatum installment hit a new series high with a 1.5 in the demo and 4.54 million.

While Running Wild’s ratings aren’t great, the show is performing better than most of the other shows on the network this summer. These days, it’s hard to find a new summer series that isn’t bombing.

It’s a reality show so likely doesn’t cost the network very much and, with the celebrities that have been taking part, Running Wild can help attract new viewers to NBC’s Monday night schedule.

For these reasons, it seems very likely that Running Wild with Bear Grylls will be renewed for a second season.

But, what do you think? Do you like the Running Wild with Bear Grylls series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
