Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie is hosting the 42nd season premiere of Saturday Night Live on NBC. Season 42 launches Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 11:29pm to 1:02am ET/PT. The Weeknd returns as musical guest. New featured players Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor, and Mikey Day will make their debut. They replace Taran Killam, Jay Pharoah, and Jon Rudnitsky.
The SNL season 42 repertory players include: Vanessa Bayer, Beck Bennett, Aidy Bryant, Michael Che, Pete Davidson, Leslie Jones, Colin Jost, Kate McKinnon, Kyle Mooney, Bobby Moynihan, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, and Sasheer Zamata. Creator Lorne Michaels executive produces.

NEW YORK — Sept. 22, 2016 — “Saturday Night Live” will kick off its upcoming 42nd season on Oct. 1 with guest host Margot Robbie and musical guest The Weeknd.
Robbie can currently be seen starring as Harley Quinn in the hugely successful blockbuster hit “Suicide Squad.”
Two-time Grammy Award winner and Oscar nominee The Weeknd will return as musical guest. His upcoming album, “Starboy” is due out November 25.
“Saturday Night Live” is produced in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels.

“Saturday Night Live,” NBC’s Emmy Award-winning late-night comedy showcase, enters its 42nd season in October for another year of laughs, surprises and great performances.
Since its inception in 1975, “SNL” has launched the careers of many of the brightest comedy performers of their generation; and, as The New York Times noted on the occasion of the show’s Emmy-winning 25th Anniversary special in 1999: “In defiance of both time and show business convention, ‘SNL’ is still the most pervasive influence on the art of comedy in contemporary culture.” At the close of the century, “Saturday Night Live” placed seventh on Entertainment Weekly’s list of the Top 100 Entertainers of the past fifty years.
The program has won 53 Emmy Awards, the most for any show in television history.
