Phil Hartman made his career with several seasons on both Saturday Night Live and NewsRadio on NBC. The comedian died tragically in 1998, and his life story is now being turned into a movie.
According to Variety, Jason Priestley, from Beverly Hills 90210 fame, will direct Nice Guy Phil. Daran Norris has been cast as Phil Hartman for the biopic. It was Priestley that suggested Norris for the role. He met Hartman during a 1992 hosting gig for Saturday Night Live.
Tyler Levine, the film’s producer, said the following about Hartman:
“Comedians are notoriously complex people and Phil was no exception. Anyone that knew him always says that he was the nicest guy they ever met.”
