The “Weekend Update” segment has been a feature on Saturday Night Live since its first season back in 1975. In the 2016-17 television season, SNL experienced a ratings renaissance. Now NBC is hoping to capitalize on its renewed popularity, by introducing its Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update TV show to the primetime, week-night audience.  The Peacock Network made previous attempts at this with Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday in 2008, 2009, and 2012. Will Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.

An NBC satirical news series hosted by Colin Jost and Michael Che, the Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update Summer Edition TV show is a half-hour primetime presentation of the weekly Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” segment.  Following in the footsteps of “Weekend Update” creator and anchor Chevy Chase, as well as notable anchors including Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, Dennis Miller, Norm Macdonald, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Seth Meyers, Che and Jost serve up a comedic look at the week’s events. Other SNL cast members also appear on the program.

Ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

8/25 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
