Scandal is getting wrap up its fifth season on ABC, and the cast just filmed the finale episode over the weekend. There was a special guest on the set for the production of the finale, and she might be back on set next season.
According to TV Line, Angela Bassett was featured in a photo shared by Kerry Washington on her Twitter. Bassett was not on set to appear on the episode, but she was shadowing the man directing the finale, Tom Verica.

The news outlet teased that it is possible that Bassett will be heading behind the camera to direct an episode of Scandal next season. This would not be a stretch. Shonda Rhimes brought in Denzel Washington to direct an episode of Grey’s Anatomy earlier this season. Bassett has been involved more in television since her arrival on American Horror Story.
