The reign of Scream Queens is over. Today, FOX boss Gary Newman announced that the network has cancelled the TV series after two seasons.
Season two of the dark comedy followed the girls of the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority as they began work at a hospital with a dark past. The cast includes Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Billie Lourd, Glen Powell, Niecy Nash, John Stamos, Taylor Lautner, and James Earl.
While the show debuted to much attention in season one, the popularity of Scream Queens significantly waned soon after. Season two of the series averaged a low rating of 0.61 in the 18-49 demo and only 1.45 million viewers, making it FOX‘s least-watched show for the 2016-2017 season. It looks like the show’s main villain wasn’t a serial killer, just low ratings.
“Over the course of the two seasons, it feels like it was a complete story,” Newman said. “We have no plans to go back there to tell more stories.”
What do you think? Did you watch Scream Queens on FOX? Are you sad it’s been cancelled? Would you have watched a third season?
