TV show description:
This half-hour comedy revolves around Harry Dacosta (Adam Korson) — a likable bartender and permanent bachelor. He enjoys life and spends his time avoiding responsibilities. One day, Harry discovers that his previous forays into the world of sperm donation has resulted in kids — lots of them. He soon finds himself entangled in the lives of his newfound children and their less-than-thrilled families.
Harry becomes an overnight father figure to nine-year-old Billy and teenage Anastasia, when he discovers that both their families used his sperm.
Billy Jones-Krasnoff (William Ainscough) is an oddball kid who plays to the beat of his own drum. The idea of achieving popularity isn’t even on his radar. Having lesbian parents is not weird for him -– it’s just life for this charming kid. He’s a lot like Harry, which could be why they get along so well.
Billy’s parents are Zoey (Stephanie Anne Mills) and Michelle (Amanda Brugel). Zooey is free-spirited, likes reading chakras and tarot cards, and is short on common sense. She’s also extremely empathetic and has a big heart so it’s no surprise that she welcomes Harry into the family.
Michelle on the other hand is tough and protective of her wife and son. She wants nothing to do with this sperm donor and intruder and feels like she’s enough to take care of her family.
Fifteen-year-old Anastasia (Abby Ross) is a typical teenage daughter who has no trouble letting the world know how much she hates her parents. She’ll still cuddle up with her Dad on the sofa when things are bad, or share a cry with her mom if she needs a shoulder. Naturally, Anastasia uses her unique situation with Harry to try to get her own way.
Her parents are Jonathan (Matt Baram) and Janet (Laura de Carteret). He was a nerdy kid and so took great pride in becoming the youngest partner in his law firm and married Janet, the cutest girl in college. It was a blow to his ego when they needed to use a sperm donor and does not appreciate Harry’s arrival. Janet is a child psychologist and self-proclaimed perfect mom to her daughter.
On a bus, Harry also meets Rose (Carrie-Lynn Neales). She’s smart, single, and independent, and she has decided to do the whole motherhood thing on her own. Overeducated and underemployed, Rose believes that Harry may have what she needs.
Harry works at Pour House Bar and his boss and best friend is Irene (Vanessa Matsui). She knows he’s spent the last 10 years trying not to get a girl pregnant, so she finds Harry’s choice to be a part of these kids’ lives completely baffling.
Episode #26 — Thanks for Coming
Rose discovers she has feelings for Harry, while the families are torn when they find out Harry might not be Billy and Anastasia’s real sperm dad.
First aired: June 5, 2014.
