Seinfeld aired for nine seasons on NBC before it went off the air, but the cast of that iconic comedy series are back in the news for a good deed.
James Calder of The Huffington Post shared his story with his readers on Friday. His father, James Anthony Calder, passed away last month, but not before he received a special set of videos from several members of the cast of Seinfeld.
He died just three days before his 67th birthday, but the videos arrived before his death. The last video he received was from Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
James shared the story of how he and his wife created a virtual birthday party on Facebook. After that was created, the goal became to find one video that they could impress his father with. Once he and his wife thought of his father’s love for Seinfeld, the pair went to work reaching out to the cast of Seinfeld.
It was a task that James was not sure they would complete.
“As any Seinfeld fan knows, the TV show had a star studded cast. We never dreamed we would be able to get in touch with any of the top four lead actors on the show, let alone some of the actors who played supporting yet legendary characters. Some of the cast members not only made videos with great birthday messages but they were creative, thoughtful and sincere. These wonderful people helped to honor and celebrate my father’s birthday and provided a much needed distraction during an extremely difficult time for my family. Their kindness and compassion has humbled us to our core.”
Many members of the cast not only sent in videos, but Michael Richards called James’ father and spoke with him for a time.
With Thanksgiving just passed, this act by the cast of Seinfeld shows that they are truly grateful for their fans.
