If Seinfeld had a spin-off, what would it be? On a recent episode of the Nerdist Podcast, Jason Alexander mentioned his favorite idea for a Seinfeld spin-off, and it’s not what you think.
Of course, Alexander played George Costanza on the classic NBC series, which ran from 1989 to 1998.
Seinfeld never produced a spin-off series, but the cast did reunite for an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2009. On the podcast, Alexander mentioned that the spin-off idea he liked the most involved the Costanza and Seinfeld parents:
The #1 that I thought, through the roof, would’ve been the four parents down at the condo in Florida. That would’ve been unbelievable… I don’t think they ever looked at it.”
Imagine that. Frank and Estelle Costanza plus Helen and Morty Seinfeld—a comedy dreamtime of Jerry Stiller, Estelle Harris, Liz Sheridan, and Barney Martin.
Perhaps there could’ve been a George spin-off as well. Last month, a George Costanza-themed bar opened up in Australia.
