Series Description: This comedic drama follows the story of writer Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her three best girl friends; confident publicist Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), conservative art dealer Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and career-minded lawyer Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon).

The series was marked by its open discussions about sex, romance, fantasies and strong beliefs and opinions.

Series Finale:     
Episodes 93 & 94 – An American Girl in Paris (part une and deux):
Before leaving for Paris, Carrie runs into Big (Chris Noth) outside of her apartment and makes it clear that she wants him out of her life. Then, Carrie has one last dinner with her three friends and its clear that her absence will have a profound impact on their lives.

Later on, after Carrie has left, the three girlfriends tell Big that he should go after Carrie. In Paris, Carrie feels lost and barely sees Aleksandr (Mikhail Baryshnikov).

Back in New York, Samantha’s chemotherapy treatments are killing her sex drive and she tries to push Smith away. Hoping to adopt their baby, Charlotte and Harry (Evan Handler) host an expectant couple from North Carolina.

Big finds an upset Carrie in Paris, they reconcile and she tells him she wants to go home. In the final scenes, we see Miranda enjoying breakfast with her family, Charlotte and Harry are walking their puppies and Samantha and Smith are making love again. Carrie is walking up a NYC street (wearing the same fur coat from the pilot episode) and her phone rings. The caller ID says “John.” She answers it and Big tells her he’s put the house on the market because he’s coming back to New York.

A big screen reunion was released in late May 2008 and was very successful.

  

Behind the Scenes

The last episode title “An American Girl in Paris” is adapted from the 1951 musical An American in Paris.
The last episode marked the first time that Big’s first name was revealed.
The final episode attracted 10.6 million viewers — a record for the series.
