Shadowhunters: How Season Two Will Differ from Season One

Shadowhunters TV show on Freeform: season 1 (canceled or renewed?)

What can we expect from season two of Shadowhunters? Recently, star Dominic Sherwood spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the new season of the Freeform TV series.

The supernatural drama follows Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara), a girl who discovers she belongs to a long line of demon hunters. The cast also includes Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia, Isaiah Mustafa, and Harry Shum Jr.

In the interview, Sherwood revealed the first two episodes of season two will focus heavily on Jace and Valentine:

The first two episodes for Jace and Valentine are very much laden with their relationship and what Valentine wants from Jace and what Jace wants and Jace being tortured. Valentine basically is trying to break him in the beginning of our season.”

He later added that season two feels more “grounded in reality” than season one:

You’ll absolutely be able to tell there’s someone else at the helm. It’s more grounded in reality, so the issues and the danger that we face do seem more real. Hopefully the audience will be able to empathize with that because it’s something you can watch and go man, these problems they really do seem like life or death now. We’ve based this show much more in the horror genre rather than teen sci-fi, so some of the stuff that we had on set was actually quite terrifying.”

Season two of Shadowhunters premieres tonightJanuary 2nd, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Freeform.
