Shark Tank: Season Eight Ratings

Now in its eighth season, it’s hard to believe that Shark Tank used to struggle in the ratings. And last season, ABC aired 29 new episodes. Will this Friday night series continue to be a success for the network so they want to keep it on the air? Will the sharks stick with the show? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a ninth season? Stay tuned.

On Shark Tank, entrepreneurs seek investments from a group of savvy (and sometimes cutthroat) millionaires. The regular “sharks” are Robert Herjavec, Kevin O’Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John, Mark Cuban, and Lori Greiner.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Last year comparison: The seventh season of Shark Tank averaged a 1.43 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.88 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
