Bill Pullman has joined the cast of The Sinner TV show pilot at USA Network. Deadline reports he will play the male lead, Detective Harry Ambrose, opposite Jessica Biel’s Cora Tanner. Pullman played President Dale Gilchrist in the 1600 Penn TV series, which was cancelled in 2013, after one season on NBC.
Created and written by Derek Simonds, the crime drama is based on the Petra Hammesfahr book of the same name. Biel is executive producing with her Iron Ocean Films’ partner, Michelle Purple, and with Charlie Gogolak. Pilot director, Antonio Campos, also executive produces.

The Sinner focuses on Cora Tanner (Biel), a young mother who, overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage, commits a startling and very public act of violence — and to her horror has no idea why. Pullman will play Harry Ambrose, a sensitive, dogged detective who finds himself disturbed and uniquely fascinated by Cora. Convinced that the bare facts of the case conceal something considerably more significant, Ambrose starts to investigate Cora’s life.
