Siren: Sibongile Mlambo Joins New Freeform Drama Series; Production Begins

Freeform TV Shows: canceled or renewed?

Siren has just added one more to the cast as production begins on the series. Sibongile Mlambo will appear on the new series. The cast of the series already includes Alex Roe, Eline Powell, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ian Verdun and Rena Owen.

Freeform shared a press release detailing the new addition. Check that out below.

“Freeform, Disney’s young adult television and streaming network, has kicked off production on their latest original series in Vancouver, Siren. The 10-episode, hour-long drama takes us inside Bristol Cove – a coastal town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids. When the arrival of a mysterious girl (played by Eline Powell) proves this folklore all too true, the battle between man and sea takes a very vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaim their right to the ocean.

Sibongile “Sibo” Mlambo (Teen Wolf, Lost in Space) joins the previously announced cast of Alex Roe, Eline Powell, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ian Verdun and Rena Owen. Mlambo will portray Donna, a mystifying and deceptively powerful mermaid.

Siren is based on a story by Eric Wald and Dean White who both serve as executive producers. Emily Whitesell (“Finding Carter”) is on board as showrunner and executive producer. Brad Luff, Nate Hopper and RD Robb are also attached as executive producers. Siren will premiere in 2018.

Siren joins Freeform’s robust slate of scripted original dramas, including breakout hit The Bold Type, supernatural thriller Beyond, Famous In Love starring Bella Thorne; critically acclaimed The Fosters, sci-fi phenomenon Shadowhunters, and procedural drama Stitchers, along with the highly anticipated Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger coming in 2018.”
