Sneaky Pete has had a bumpy road to series status. First developed as pilot for CBS, the networked passed on the series. That would normally kill any series, but several cable networks and streaming services express interested in the series.

Eventually Sneaky Pete landed at Amazon, but the series is now making news after a behind the scenes shake up. David Shore was originally listed as showrunner for this series, but he has now departed the series.

According to Deadline, Graham Yost is now the new showrunner for the series. Fans of Justified will recognize as the showrunner of that series during its run.

Deadline revealed more about the plot of this series:

“Sneaky Pete revolves around a con man (Ribisi) who, after leaving prison, takes cover from his past by assuming the identity of his cellmate, Pete. He moves in with Pete’s unsuspecting family and is roped into the family’s bail bond business. In order to keep the charade up, he plays the part of a skip tracer, taking down criminals worse than himself — and discovering a family life he’s never had.”

The series was set for a fall 2016 premiere on Amazon, but production was delayed while a new showrunner was found. A new premiere date has not been announced, so for now the series is still set for a premiere later this year.
