Son of Zorn: FOX Orders Live-Action/Animation Comedy

FOX TV shows

Worlds are about to collide on FOX. Today, the network announced they’ve just acquired Son of Zorn, a live-action/animated hybrid comedy from Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

The series will feature Jason Sudeikis, Cheryl Hines, Tim Meadows, and Johnny Pemberton.

Sudeikis will voice Zorn, an animated warrior who’s spent 10 years away from his home on Earth. He returns to reconnect with his live-action son, Alan (Pemberton), and his ex-wife, Edie (Cheryl Hines), in banal suburbia.

The pilot is written by Reed Agnew and Wilfred‘s Eli Jorne. The series will be executive produced by Agnew and Jorne in addition to Lord and Miller, who currently executive produce FOX’s The Last Man on Earth.

Son of Zorn is expected to debut in the 2016-2017 season.

From FOX Entertainment President David Madden, in a press statement:

This is utterly unique—there has literally never been a show like this. And, of course, it is very, very funny. The fantastically talented duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller are yet again delivering precedent-setting television. Jason Sudeikis makes his animated character sound and feel live-action, and Cheryl, Johnny and Tim have incredible chemistry with him that crosses formats, genres and galaxies.”

What do you think? Does Son of Zorn sound like something you’d watch?
