Other Space isn’t over yet. Recently, creator Paul Feig spoke with Splitsider about his efforts to revive the cancelled Yahoo series.
The sci-fi comedy, which premiered in 2015, starred Karan Soni, Bess Rous, Eugene Cordero, and Neil Casey as members of an unskilled space crew that heads out into the unknown. Yahoo cancelled the show after only one season when the tech company’s original series platform, Yahoo Screen, shut down.
In the interview, Feig said he’s sad nobody saw the series and desperately wants to make more:
It’s colossally sad for me. The fact nobody saw it, that’s what makes me crazy — it’s just never had its day in court. This is probably one of the biggest labors of love I’ve ever been involved with. It’s something I’m hugely proud of, and something we’re all dying to do more of.”
Later, he mentioned that there are significant obstacles to getting a second season. First, it’s hard to find a broadcaster. Secondly, Yahoo geoblocked the show during its original run, so nobody outside the United States has seen it. Now that Yahoo has removed the block, Feig is urging people to watch season one in the hopes that a second season can be made:
The show just needs to grow a base. Fans that express their desire to see more of it. Just getting it into the public consciousness is really the main thing.”
What do you think? Have you seen Other Space? Do you want a second season?
