Spider-Noir will not be returning for a second season. Prime Video has canceled the superhero series after just one season, which premiered in May.
Nicolas Cage, Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson star in the series, which followed a version of the superhero who lives in New York during the 1930s.
Deadline revealed the following about the series’ cancellation:
“The pull of recognizable IP and Oscar winner Cage in his first TV role helped Spider-Noir to a solid launch at No.2 on Nielsen’s U.S Top 10 for original series for its first week, bringing in 851 million minutes viewed. (The show premiered May 25 on MGM+ and May 27 globally on Prime Video.) Over its first six weeks, the comedy-drama generated 2.6 billion viewing minutes in the U.S., according to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings.
But Spider-Noir didn’t have the staying power of other Prime Video recent releases such as Off Campus, Reacher and Ride Or Die, dropping off the platform’s daily Top 10 rankings relatively quickly.”
