Spike TV Channel to Be Rebranded as Paramount Network

Networks are no stranger to rebranding and it seems Spike TV is the latest to undergo an identity change. Deadline reports the network will be renamed Paramount Network.

This is not the first name change for the Viacom-owned network, which began as The Nashville Network (TNN) in 1983 before switching to The National Network in 2000, and was then changed to The New TNN in 2001. It was renamed Spike TV in 2003.

Apparently, little will change with regard to the network’s staff and content. Paramount Network will air “general entertainment network carrying scripted and unscripted programming,” as Spike currently does with original unscripted series like Lip Sync Battle and Ink Master. A date for the name and brand change has not yet been announced.

What do you think? Do you watch Spike TV? Do you like the name change?
