Star Trek: Discovery has some new company. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Rapp and Doug Jones have joined the upcoming CBS TV series.
Few details have been revealed about the sci-fi reboot, but it has been announced the new installment will feature a female lead, a gay character, and be set in the years before the original 1960s series. Michelle Yeoh has already been cast as the lead, Captain Georgiou.
Rapp will play “Lt. Stamets, an astromycologist, fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer aboard the Starship Discovery” while Jones has been cast as “Lt. Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer and a new alien species to the Star Trek universe.”
Star Trek: Discovery is slated to debut in May 2017.
