Star Trek: Discovery: CBS All-Access TV Series Could Be Delayed Again

Star Trek: Discovery TV show on CBS All Access: season 1 cast (cancel or renew?)

Will there be an even longer wait for the new Star Trek series? In a recent interview with Vulture, CBS Interactive chief Marc DeBevoise says the planned “late summer, early fall” premiere for Star Trek: Discovery is not set in stone.

The latest installment in the sci-fi franchise stars Jason Isaacs, Mary Wiseman, Sonequa Martin-Green, Rainn Wilson, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Michelle Yeoh, James Frain, Chris Obi, Shazad Latif, Mary Chieffo, Terry Serpico, Maulik Pancholy, and Sam Vartholomeos.

Initially, CBS All Access announced a January 2017 launch for Star Trek: Discovery. Then, it was pushed back to this May and then, to “late summer, early fall” (per CBS CEO Les Moonves). Now, DeBevoise revealed the streaming service is “not tied to any specific release date”:

It’s going great, I’ve actually been up there [to the set]. It is, you know, phenomenal. It is huge. And we’re very excited about the content, the creators, the actors, all coming together. As you said, we’re not tied to any specific release date. It’ll be there when we’re ready to do it, and when we feel it’s in a great place. We’re not worried about anything here. We’re excited, and we’ll have more specifics as we get closer to what will likely be the release dates.”

When asked if the show will debut in the fall, DeBevoise had no comment. One earlier report has filming continuing until September 7th of this year.

What do you think? Are you a Star Trek fan? Are you excited for the new series? Do the delays temper your excitement?
