How does William Shatner feel about the new Star Trek series? Recently, the original Captain Kirk took to Reddit to discuss the upcoming CBS All Access TV show Star Trek: Discovery.

As reported earlier, Shatner has expressed interested in returning to the Star Trek universe. Even though Captain Kirk died in the film Star Trek Generations, Shatner says he’d love to reprise the role he originated in the classic 1960s series.

When a commenter on Reddit criticized Star Trek: Discovery, Shatner had this to say:

I just love how frazzled some of you get about canon. It’s a show and they are doing a prequel to something that was made 50 years ago. Star Trek was always more about the stories and messaging than the look. If they screw that up; roast em alive and kick em in the you know what! If they don’t; then enjoy it. Kirk out!”

Whether or not Shatner will be joining the CBS All Access show remains unclear. The new installment is set before the events of the original series and stars Jason Isaacs, Mary Wiseman, Sonequa Martin-Green, Rainn Wilson, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Michelle Yeoh, and James Frain.

CBS All Access has yet to announced a premiere date, but Star Trek: Discovery is expected to debut this coming fall.

What do you think? Are you a Star Trek fan? Would you like to see Shatner on the new series?
