Star Trek

Star Trek will celebrate its 50th anniversary in September, Leonard Nimoy’s daughter wants to make sure her father does something in honor of that special moment. Nimoy died last year at the 83.

Julie Nimoy is making it her mission to finish her father’s last project. At the time of his death, he was working on a documentary about COPD. It is that disease that led to his death. The documentary is titled COPD: Highly Illogical. The documentary will be narrated by John de Lancie, who first appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation as Q.

Nimoy has already raised $300,000 from corporate sponsors, and she is now using crowdfunding to raise $150,000 more. Her plan is to release the film for free via download.

She spoke about the project with Variety.

“It was his mission to do this during his last few months. We also want to be entertaining and engaging. We also wanted to show that the people’s reaction to COPD is often highly illogical. There are probably 12 to 15 million people in the U.S. who have it and yet a third of them continue to smoke.”

Leonard Nimoy wanted to highlight COPD, so that others may learn about the disease. Were you a fan of Leonard Nimoy? Would you watch COPD: Highly Illogical? Tell us what you think.
