Star Trek has been in the news a lot in recent weeks because of the planned CBS revival, but Michael Dorn had its own plans for the franchise, and they involved his character. Worf appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Michael Dorn planned to bring his character and perhaps others back to the small screen with a series he was planning to call The Worf Chronicles.
With the Star Trek revival now in the works, that series might be up in the air, but he still talked a bit about his plans in an interview with Den of Geek.
“[The 2017 Star Trek series] probably is the nail in the coffin for Worf, but it’s not a negative thing. We were always aware that this was a possibility and we have a plan B. The idea that we have is a great idea, so what we’d like to do is use it to start a new franchise. I think if we populate [the series] with Star Trek franchise actors, I think that’s a good place to start. We’d be able to promote it through the conventions we already do, and the great thing about it would be that we’d own it. We’d be free to do what we wanted to do.”
Dorn also shared a bit about what The Worf Chronicles would be about. He said:
“The Worf Chronicles idea was right in that wheelhouse, because the Klingon Empire is gritty. It does have a dark quality. It’s Shakespearean, it’s about assassinations and coups, the power behind the throne – so we’re going to continue that with plan B.”
