State of Affairs follows a top CIA analyst (Heigl) who assembles the President of the United States’ Daily Briefing (PDB), weighing the vital security issues that face the nation. She has a close personal relationship with the commander-in-chief (Alfre Woodard) as she was once engaged to the president’s now-deceased son. The rest of the cast of this dramatic thriller includes Adam Kaufman, Sheila Vand, Cliff Chamberlain, Tommy Savas, and David Harbour.
The show debuted on November 17th with a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 with 8.69 million viewers. It was a decent start but the numbers took a big fall in week two, dropping more than 36%. The numbers kept falling and first season ended up averaging just a 1.25 rating in the demo and 5.26 million.
The last episode, which aired on February 16th, hit a new series low in the demo with a 0.97 rating and 4.47 million viewers.
It was clear from the ratings that there wouldn’t be a second season and NBC has now officially cancelled it.
