Still the King TV show on CMT: season 1 canceled or renewed?

Below, watch CMT‘s new trailer for its upcoming Still the King TV series. A new comedy, Still the King features Billy Ray Cyrus as Vernon Brown, AKA “Burnin’ Vernon,” described by CMT as a scandal-ridden washed up one-hit wonder who is kicked out of country music, only to emerge 20 years later as the second best Elvis impersonator.

The cast of Still the King also includes: Joey Lauren Adams, Madison Iseman, Lacey Chabert, Leslie David Baker, Kevin Farley, Travis Nicholson, and Jon Sewell. Still the King premieres Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 9:00pm ET/PT, on CMT.

CMT says that after crashing into an old country church outside of Nashville during a drunken bender, “Burnin’ Vernon” is sentenced to return and perform community service. Along the way, he pretends to be the congregation’s new minister and discovers he has a 15-year-old daughter he’s never met.

Still The King is produced by Hideout Pictures, with Cyrus serving as executive producer and writer. Shannon Houchins, Potsy Ponciroli and Travis Nicholson also executive produce. Julia Silverton and Jayson Dinsmore executive produce for CMT.

As previously reported, CMT will run an “exclusive” first look, during the Party Down South TV series finale,which airs tonight, April 7th, at 9:00pm ET/PT.
