When will Still Star-Crossed debut? ABC boss Channing Dungey recently discussed the status of Shonda Rhime’s latest TV series, Deadline reports.
Based on the book by Melinda Taub, the period drama “picks up where the famous story of Romeo and Juliet ends, charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate.” The cast includes Wade Briggs, Anthony Head, Zuleikha Robinson, Lashana Lynch, Ebonee Noel, Sterling Sulieman Medalion Rahimi, Grant Bowler, Susan Wooldridge, Torrance Coombs and Dan Hildebrand.
Though ABC has ordered Still Star-Crossed to series, the show was nowhere to be found on the network’s recently announced 2017 midseason premiere schedule. Speaking to reporters at this week’s Television Critics Association press tour, Dungey said the show has been delayed:
It has taken us a little longer than we thought it would’ve taken us. I’ve seen the first three episodes, and the fourth one is coming my way soon. It has all of the great hallmarks of a Shondaland project, but it also is very epic in terns of its scope and scale, and we did not want to rush it into a place where we felt like it wasn’t ready.”
So when will it premiere? Dungey says possibly this summer or fall:
We are talking about summer; there is also a possibility that it becomes something for fall. It’s a bit TBD.”
