Happy Valley‘s Adam Long has been cast as a series regular in the When the Street Lights Go On TV series pilot for Hulu, from Paramount Television and Anonymous Content. The pilot is an adaptation of a feature film script from writers Chris Hutton and Eddie O’Keefe. Brett Morgan has been tapped to direct will executive produce with Hutton and O’Keefe and Anonymous Content’s Chad Hamilton, Tariq Merhab, Michael Sugar, and Steve Golin.
The cast of When the Street Lights Go On include; Odessa Young, Max Burkholder, Kelli Mayo, Ben Winchell, Graham Beckel, and Luke Kirby. Per Deadline, Long will play, “17-year-old rebel Casper Tatum, a popular suspect in the small-town murder.”
Parenthood‘s Burkholder plays Charlie Chambers, in the pilot. The character is described by Deadline as the lead role.
The pilot is categorized as being “in the vein of Stand By Me.” Deadline adds:
When The Street Lights Go On is a coming-of-age thriller about a sleepy, suburban town that is rocked by the brutal murder of a high school girl and her teacher in the summer of 1983.
[Australian actress] Young will play 15-year old Becky Monroe, an elusive teenage wallflower forced to come of age amid the shocking aftermath of her sister’s tragic murder.
Winchell plays Brad Krichoff. described as, “…the brooding, quarterback boyfriend of prom queen Chrissy Monroe.” Mayo will take on the role of “15-year-old bohemian bookworm,” Berlice Beaman.
Graham Beckel has been cast as Chief Hal Hoffman, reportedly a “soon-to-be-retired town sheriff.” Kirby is Andrew Koch, “the high school newspaper adviser and mentor” to Burkholder’s Charlie Chambers.
